Mob tower building has also been an important element in the city, since it has paid for all our building projects. ronvandorp wrote: Added a lot of pictures to the Nimaro history page now. http://web.minetown.net/wiki/index.php?title=Nimaro_history Tis an impressive structure, to be certain. I would consider it the defining feature of Nimaro, at least if one looks at the map and sees it towering above everything else. Also, thank god for pictures. I can now read through the whole thing without feeling like a social worker or something of the like.

ronvandorp wrote: I made a main wiki page for Nimaro here: http://web.minetown.net/wiki/index.php?title=Nimaro The main pages are normal style. The history page is really only a listing. It is interesting because it also shows that have been there at some point but no longer exist. I will add pictures of those things. I documented it now. I am certain about most of the months because I am very trigger-happy with the screen shot key. Screen shots include the date. The main page is far easier for me to read through in a single run. Anyhow, it's a beautiful city that you've built. Personally I only rarely take screenshots, so I wasn't thinking of them as a means of record-keeping, though I suppose that's a very effective method. Nimaro seems very construction-oriented, correct? There didn't seem to be a whole lot of politics recorded in your history. It seemed mostly cultural, what with massive architectural endeavors taking precedence over diplomatic affairs.

ronvandorp wrote: I made a wiki page on Nimaro's history. http://web.minetown.net/wiki/index.php?title=Nimaro_history Interesting. I intend to read through it shortly; so far I've only skimmed. The bulleted format makes it rather unentertaining to read - like a list rather than a story, as I suppose it is - but it seems well laid-out and fairly neat. Was this documented over time, as it happened, or did you have to pore over old records and reconstruct it all when you started writing the page? Robertfox wrote: Hey wolverine, i havin read through the whole tread but i think i am one of the oldest last remaining members of Espero and would be happy to answer any questions about the history of Minetown has ive been here along time. just pm me or if you see me online il be happy to help. Oh, thank you. I will probably start writing some historical compilations as soon as school gets out, or whenever the workload becomes negligible (I have to spend like a half hour a night right now, which you will agree is far too much work to allow me to undertake any major essay-writing). When that happens I'll undoubtedly have questions to ask in order to clarify inconsistencies, and at that point your offer will prove an invaluable resource, along with this thread. But if you have anything to contribute now - major events or conflicts that the others missed, important people, factions I wasn't aware of (like Nimaro, up until today), and anything like that - I'd be happy to read through it and include it when I start writing. It's important to document everything that's ever happened for those who come before to remember and those who come after to learn.

jthm02 wrote: I doubt that serious cities and factions would ever wage war against eachother at this time, everyone is somewhat frail though stable. The bigger threats are the PvP regimes that pop up for about a month and stir up trouble before dieing out. The regimes you speak of sound rather unpleasant. I suppose the reign of peace will have a positive influence upon Minetown, though. Stability can never be a bad thing, even though this stability appears to be brought on by collective weakness rather than any real balance of power. jthm02 wrote: The reason the great war happened was because of the war world and struggles there backed by brittanica's threats. Without the war world it would not have happened, and if it did it would be more on the forums then online. Thers always going to be quarrels though. Even though they rarely amount too much. I know they've mostly turned into a short flamewar before fizzling out. The introduction of the war world did appear to be the cause of the World War from what I knew previous to creating this thread, although clearly there were deeper motives at work in determining who fought against who: the prevalent alliance system, for instance, always a factor in major conflicts. I imagine that most conflicts simply fade into the background, then, since nobody acts upon them with the use of military force? jthm02 wrote: Also, a faction would not be able to rise to greatness through pure military power. All sorts of variables affect pvp factions making it unlikely for them to get very far. But a faction with a good balance could definitely rise to greatness. It's very much about having the best public relations, and by balancing faction activities you can make your faction something people want to be apart of. In other words for a faction to rise it needs to balance out and adapt. And when you have that things start to stack up and that's when a faction becomes great. That's certainly a wise, measured opinion on the matter. I believe that through military power, a faction could rise quickly and gain power, although they would have a very short reign before the other major powers mobilized to defeat their threat with impunity, or before they were banned for something or other, as the most aggressive of leaders tend not to be the wisest. To sum up what I've heard so far, organization appears to have been the key difference between a small, short-lived faction and a truly great, long-lasting faction throughout Minetown's history. Those who maintain it well survive and thrive; those who do not lose power quickly.
